(Updated)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>March 18, 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Mastercard Foundation is aware of serious allegations related to leadership practices at the African Development University (A.D.U.), a partner under the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program. The Foundation is deeply concerned by the issues raised and has commissioned an independent investigation to establish the facts and inform its next steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Foundation\u2019s priority is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of Mastercard Foundation Scholars and the student body. The Foundation has asked that the African Development University pause the recruitment of a new cohort of Mastercard Foundation Scholars until our investigation is complete and the well-being of the student body is assured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Foundation remains committed to positively impacting the communities and young people reached through our programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>D\u00e9claration<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;sur les all\u00e9gations&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>r\u00e9centes<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;concernant les pratiques de leadership \u00e0&nbsp; l\u2019Universit\u00e9 Africaine de D\u00e9veloppement (A.D.U.)<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>18 Mars, 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La Fondation Mastercard a pris connaissance des s\u00e9rieuses all\u00e9gations concernant les pratiques de leadership de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 Africaine de D\u00e9veloppement (A.D.U.), un partenaire du Programme de Bourses de la Fondation Mastercard. La Fondation est profond\u00e9ment pr\u00e9occup\u00e9e par les all\u00e9gations soulev\u00e9es et a instruit une enqu\u00eate ind\u00e9pendante pour \u00e9claircir les faits, et guider les prochaines \u00e9tapes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La priorit\u00e9 de la Fondation est d\u2019assurer la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 et le bien-\u00eatre des boursiers&nbsp; du Programme de Bourses ainsi que tout le corps \u00e9tudiant. La Fondation a demand\u00e9 \u00e0&nbsp; l\u2019Universit\u00e9 Africaine de D\u00e9veloppement de suspendre le recrutement d\u2019une nouvelle cohorte pour le Programme de Bourses de la Fondation Mastercard, jusqu\u2019\u00e0 ce que l\u2019enqu\u00eate soit termin\u00e9e et que le bien-\u00eatre du corps \u00e9tudiant soit assur\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La Fondation reste d\u00e9termin\u00e9e \u00e0 avoir un impact positif sur les communaut\u00e9s et les jeunes b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiaires de ses programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Early in 2023, serious allegations of misconduct and misappropriation of funds were levelled against a senior member of the leadership at the African Development University (A.D.U.). This resulted in an audit commissioned by the Mastercard Foundation and pausing the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at A.D.U. The audit has substantiated the allegations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Considering the seriousness of the audit findings, the Mastercard Foundation will be terminating the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at A.D.U. The Foundation will work with Ashesi University, another Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Partner, to enable the Mastercard Foundation Scholars to continue their education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>French<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En d\u00e9but d\u2019ann\u00e9e 2023, de graves all\u00e9gations de mauvaise conduite et de d\u00e9tournement de fonds ont \u00e9t\u00e9 port\u00e9es contre un haut responsable de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 africaine de d\u00e9veloppement (A.D.U.).
